NEW YORK CITY — Donald Trump will become the 45th president of the United States.

Addressing his supporters and the nation at 3 a.m., he said Hillary Clinton had called to congratulate him.

“Sorry to keep you waiting … complicated business,” he said to the crowd.

“I have just received a call from Secretary Clinton,” President-elect Trump said. “She congratulated us on our victory, and I congratulated her and her family on a very hard fought campaign.”

At about 2:30 a.m., it became clear that he had the needed 270 electoral college votes.

The Republican nominee won after capturing Wisconsin’s 10 electoral votes putting him over the threshold.

Delaware’s three electoral votes went to Hillary Clinton.

President-elect Trump won Kent and Sussex counties, but Secretary Clinton won New Castle County.

In April, he made a “Make America Great Again” campaign stop at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington that drew several thousand people.
