Dover man facing drug, weapons charges

DOVER — A Dover man has been indicted on drug and weapons charges after his arrest in early February.

On Monday, a Kent County grand jury returned seven felony counts against Morris E. Savage regarding a Dover Police Department investigation into a Feb. 2 traffic stop in the area of Del. 8 and Saulsbury Road, according to court documents.

Mr. Savage, 22 at the time, was charged with possession of a firearm/ammunition by person prohibited, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, aggravated possession, drug dealing, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and receiving a stolen firearm.

According to police, a stolen .40 caliber handgun allegedly was found during the stop, along with 125 bags (1.875 grams) of heroin, .8 grams of marijuana, and $809 in suspected drug proceeds. The incident occurred at 1:20 p.m., authorities said.

Deputy Attorney General Zach George signed the indictment for the state.
