DOVER — The court appearance for a 21-year-old Dover man accused of holding a gun while fleeing and then being shot by a police officer in late August has been delayed again.

For a second straight week, a scheduled preliminary hearing was continued for Terrance Fletcher, of the 100 block of Governors Avenue, the Delaware Department of Justice said. His appearance is now scheduled for next Friday in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas.

Mr. Fletcher was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by person prohibited after an Aug. 28 police chase. Authorities said he was shot by an officer as he emerged from an alley between the 100 blocks of South New Street and South Governors Avenue.

Mr. Fletcher suffered a non-life threatening wound to the upper thigh and was held in custody by the Delaware Department of Correction after first receiving medical treatment at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, police said.

At the time he was shot, authorities said Mr. Fletcher was a fugitive from a felony case in West Virginia. He was sought after allegedly failing to appear for a scheduled court date, officials said.
