DOVER — Jury selection regarding the 2015 shooting death of a Smyrna High student is scheduled for Tuesday, with a trial to follow on Dec. 5.
Co-defendants Damier Harmon, 20, and Bruce Manlove, 21, both of Dover, are charged with first-degree murder and other alleged offenses connected to a fatal incident in the Walker Woods residential development on May 13, 2015.
Gary Adams, 19, died from a single gunshot wound after an alleged attempt to rob him of marijuana at approximately 8:54 p.m., Dover Police said when charges were filed last year. He died from his injuries at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital in Dover.
An autopsy was conducted May 14, 2015, according to court papers, and the cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the upper torso and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Mr. Harmon and Mr. Manlove were arrested together in Philadelphia and then extradited to Delaware. Both had the same Harmony Lane home address listed in court documents.
On Sept. 8, 2015, both men were indicted for first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the comission of a felony (two counts), and second-degree conspiracy. Mr. Manlove was also charged with possession of a firearm/ammunition by person prohibited.
Deputy Attorney General Steve Welch is prosecuting the case, with attorneys Patrick Collins representing Mr. Harmon and John Malik Mr. Manlove. Judge Jeffrey Clark will oversee the trial.
