DOVER — A Dover man will receive at least seven years imprisonment when sentenced Nov. 17 in connection with a shooting death at an apartment complex last year.
On Tuesday, Fchante Robertson, 27 when arrested on May 1, 2015, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of DaShawn Friend, 19, along with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
He could receive a maximum sentence of 50 years from Kent County Superior Court Judge Robert B. Young next month.
Mr. Robertson was facing a mandatory minimum of five years when taking an earlier plea, but a pre-sentence investigation determined that a contraband felony conviction had not been detected at that point, which added two years after a second plea.
Mr. Robertson also had a robbery conviction on his record.

With defense attorney André Beauregard at his side during a seven-minute appearance before the court, Mr. Robertson answered “Yes” several times when asked if he understood the ramifications of his plea, and indicated it was knowingly and voluntarily made.
Deputy Attorneys General Ben Snyder and Marie Graham prosecuted the case.
The early morning incident occurred in the Pine Grove Apartments parking lot.
Police said Mr. Friend had been shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr. Robertson was arrested the next day and charged with first-degree murder, second-degree conspiracy, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of firearm by person prohibited, possession of ammunition by person prohibited, and resisting arrest.
According to officials, all charges were dismissed against a 30-year-old man who was also arrested at the time.
