DOVER — Police arrested a suspect in one weekend shooting and suspects are being sought in two others, Dover Police said:
• Authorities said Sencier Mansfield, 16, of Dover was arrested in connection with a shooting in the 900 block of Monroe Terrace late Friday night.
The Mansfield youth was identified as a suspect and arrested without incident on Saturday night.
Charges included possession of a firearm by person prohibited (juvenile) and criminal mischief.
• Authorities said officers had earlier investigated a shots fired complaint at approximately 11:51 p.m. and found a 2015 Dodge Dart had been struck multiple times. A 21-year-old man was wounded after gunshots in a Wawa parking lot early Sunday morning, authorities said.
Officers in the area of the convenience store at 1450 Forrest Ave. heard shots at approximately 1:04 and arrived to see a large SUV fleeing at a high speed, police said. Officers stopped the vehicle and learned that an unknown suspect had fired a gun in their direction as a fight was about to start in the parking lot.
A short time later, police said, a man was contacted at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital in Dover with a gunshot wound to his right elbow.
The victim told investigators that he was pumping gas when he was shot in the elbow and received a ride to the hospital from friends, police said.
• Police investigated a shots fired report on Sunday at 11:45 p.m. and found an occupied home in the 400 block of New Castle Avenue was struck at least three times. Multiple shell casings were found in the area, authorities said.
No injuries were reported among the home’s five occupants at the time.
Detectives are working to identify suspects in the shootings, police said. On Monday, Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said the three incidents were not believed to be connected at this time.
