SMYRNA — On Tuesday, authorities announced the recent seizures of over 600 bags of heroin in separate cases on consecutive days that brought five arrests.
On Sept. 9, Smyrna Police made two arrests at the Smyrna Mart shopping center after receiving information on a planned illegal narcotics transaction. Officers discovered 196 bags of heroin and 21 illegal prescription pills, authorities said.
On Sept. 10, police said, an off-duty Smyrna PD officer allegedly witnessed a hand-to hand transaction in the Glenwood Plaza shopping center, which led to three arrests and 413 bags of heroin being found. Also located were .4 grams of MDMA, police said.
In the first case, police alleged that Summer Desport, 20, of Poplarville, Mississippi, and a 17-year-old Townsend male arrived at the Smyrna Mart at approximately 2 p.m. and were taken into custody without incident.

The male was allegedly found with 130 bags of heroin and $829 in suspected drug proceeds, police said. Ms. Desport was found with illegal prescription pills.
Officers searched a vehicle and discovered 66 bags of heroin concealed inside a container, police said.
Both suspects were transported to the Smyrna Police Department.
The juvenile was charged with possession of a controlled substance in Tier 2 quantity with an aggravating factor, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 2 quantity with an aggravating factor, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to JP Court 7 in Dover and arraigned with a guardian present before being committed to Stevenson House Detention Center in Milford in default of $10,250 cash only bond.
Ms. Desport was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arraigned via video at JP Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach and released on $1,000 unsecured bond.
The next day, an off-duty officer notified on-duty police after an alleged drug transaction at approximately 2:45 p.m. at Glenwood Plaza.
Patrol officers received a description of the three suspects and two vehicles allegedly involved, authorities said.

Jennifer Bell, 44, of Marydel, was contacted during a traffic stop in the area of Wheatley’s Pond Road and North Carter Road, according to police. She admitted to purchasing 10 bags of heroin in the shopping center parking lot, police said, and was taken into custody.
Suspects in a second vehicle drove by as the arrest was unfolding, police said, and a traffic stop ensued in the area of Wheatley’s Pond Road and Coldwater Drive.
Police investigation led to heroin, MDMA and suspected drug proceeds being located. Passenger Jayme Turner, 22, of Smyrna, was allegedly found in possession of 13 bags of concealed heroin, police said. Driver Kyah Hall, 21, of Philadelphia was also detained.
Ms. Bell was charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving while suspended. She was released on a $650 unsecured bond after being brought before JP Court 7.
Ms. Turner and Ms. Hall were both charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 4 quantity, second-degree conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ms. Turner was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Ms. Hall was arraigned through video court at JP Court 7 and held by the Delaware Department of Correction in lieu of $20,850 secured bond. Ms. Turner was committed to the DOC for lack of $21,100 secured bond.
