DOVER — The City of Dover Parks and Recreation Department announced that Schutte Park will be closed next Monday and Tuesday due to a sewer replacement project at the facility.

The John W. Pitts Center and all facilities within Schutte Park will be closed for the two-day period since access to Electric Avenue will be closed off to the public during this time.

Schutte Park will close beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday and plans to reopen at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

“Please accept my apologizes for the inconveniences this may cause, however this closure is unavoidable due to the active sewer replacement project taking place,” said Ann Marie Townshend, director of the Department of Parks and Recreation. “I encourage park visitors to enjoy one of our many other wonderful parks for walking/biking and outdoor activities during this brief period.”

Carolyn Courtney, of the Parks and Recreation Department, said to find information on a program or league updates to check Schutte Park’s website www.cityofdover.com/parks‐recs‐home. The department also plans to call and/or email affected program participants.

Residents in the Schutte Park area should expect longer than normal delays around the park between now and next Wednesday and allow extra time entering and exiting the park this weekend.

Ms. Courtney said the Parks and Recreation staff will be limited in their operating capacity during the two-day closure. Inquiries are encouraged via email at parks@dover.de.us. She said any phone messages left for the department will be returned in a timely manner.
