DOVER — A 28-year-old Dover man is facing five to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter on Thursday regarding a 2015 shooting in an apartment complex parking lot.
Fchante Robertson will be sentenced by Judge Robert B. Young on Nov. 17 in Kent County Superior Court. He also pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Robertson was arrested after arriving Dover Police police officers located deceased 19-year-old Dashawn Friend at Pine Grove Apartments on Webbs Lane at approximately 9:42 a.m. on April 30, 2015. Authorities said the man was shot multiple times and declared dead at the scene due to the wounds.
The Delaware Department of Justice said the incident involved a marijuana deal that turned into a robbery.
After chasing leads on the day of the shooting, police said, Robertson was identified as a suspect and arrested. Another suspect was also arrested, but charges against him were eventually dropped.
Initial charges against Robertson included first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of firearm by person prohibited, possession of ammunition by person prohibited and resisting arrest.
Deputy Attorney Generals Ben Snyder and Marie Graham secured the plea.
