DOVER – District I got a second chance at winning the Big League baseball East title on Thursday morning.

The Kent County all-stars didn’t waste the opportunity.

District I scored five runs in the second inning and seven more in the seventh to pull away to a decisive 13-1 victory over Pennsylvania in the Big League East championship game at Dover Little League.

Kent County will have a team in the World Series in Little League’s division for 16-18 year-olds for the second straight year when the Big League World Series starts next week in Easley, S.C.

Pennsylvania beat District I, 7-3, on Wednesday night to force a second game for the championship at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Kent County went 4-1 overall, including a 2-1 mark against Pennsylvania, in the tournament.

Winning pitcher Dillon Cole threw a complete game on Thursday while his Felton-Harrington teammate, Cole Gary, hit a two-run homerun in the seventh to cap off the victory.
