DOVER — A 21-year-old Dover man was charged with manslaughter Thursday after investigation into an Oct. 17, 2015, home invasion in Rodney Village that left his father dead, police said.
Jacob H. Leager was arrested in connection with an incident in which his 52-year-old father was shot and killed, the Delaware State Police said.

According to authorities, Mr. Leager allegedly picked up a handgun dropped by a suspect after he and his father were shot inside their home on John Clark Road, and chased perpetrators outside.
Investigation found that Mr. Leager allegedly followed Philadelphia residents Saleem Shabazz, 21, and Matthew Harrington, 23, to the area where they had parked their car, fired into the vehicle and struck Haley Henwood, 18, of Philadelphia. Ms. Henwood was later found by arriving troopers in a side yard of a residence in the 200 block of David Hall Road, and was pronounced dead after transport to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital in Dover.
Police said the gun that Mr. Leager allegedly used was found on a roof by detectives later in the day in the 200 block of John Collins Circle. Police said it was the same area where Mr. Leager was seen running from the car.
A home invasion was reported at approximately 1:38 a.m., police said.
Mr. Leager was arraigned at JP Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown on $60,000 secured bond.
Police said Mr. Shabazz is currently being held in Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington without bail and Mr. Harrington is being held in Montgomery County (Pa.) Correctional Facility pending extradition back to Delaware.
Police said Mr. Shabazz was charged with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted robbery, first-degree assault, six counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of first-degree burglary, first- and second-degree conspiracy. He was arraigned at JP Court 2 and ordered held without bond.
