Trial for former Dover Little League president postponed

DOVER — Scheduled for Tuesday, the jury trial of a former Dover Little League president charged with stealing money from the organization has been postponed until March 22.

William M. Berry, 53, of the 100 block of Greenbriar Road in Hartly, was indicted on Dec. 7, 2015, after Dover Police Department investigation into allegations regarding use of Dover Little League funds.

Mr. Berry was arrested on Sept. 11, 2015, and charged theft over $1,500, theft by false pretense over $1,500, unlawful use of payment card over $1,500, and two counts of second-degree forgery.

According to authorities at the time, Mr. Berry arrived at the Dover Police Department with an attorney on Sept. 11, 2015, and was later released on a $7,000 unsecured bond.

Deputy Attorney General Ben Snyder is prosecuting the case for the state, with attorney John Garey representing Mr. Berry.
