DOVER — With several hours left in the storm, forecasters from the National Weather Service expect Kent County to get another 5 to 10 inches of snow.
The afternoon forecast from the weather service:
“Snow. Some thunder is also possible. Areas of blowing snow. High near 34. Windy, with a north wind around 33 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.”
Forecasters said snow could be heavy at times tonight with a north wind of 27 to 32 mph decreasing to 18 to 23 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 49 mph.
Tonight’s snow could be another 1-2 inches.
As of 2 p.m., the worst of the snow was stretching diagonally from southwestern Kent through the northern part of the county.
Woodside now has 14.6 inches of snow — the most measured in Kent County by the Delaware Environmental Observing System.
West Dover has 12.4 and Harrington 9 inches, according to measurements that suggest snow has been falling in those areas at about an inch or more per hour.
