LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Federal government threatening states over refugees

Gov. Jack Markell, when did I ever say it was OK to let refugees, only if they’re Christians, into Delaware, and when did I ever state that I was willing to rewrite what was on the Statue of Liberty, “Give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses” into Delaware “as long as they’re Christian”? I never did, but thanks for trying to put my words into your mouth.

I do, however state, as a legal U.S. citizen, resident Delaware voter (and we as legal U.S. citizens, Delaware resident voters) should not be so willing to play the game of follow the leader and allow our state to relinquish its power of sovereignty over who or what can be in Delaware and who or what can’t.

States’ rights and the fact that we are sovereign say we the people can. The entity which we created was never delegated the power to tell us otherwise.

If you want to be factual about the matter, as humane as it may seem, letting any alien undocumented properly into this country is a violation of 8 U.S. Code 1324, not to mention the fact that hard-earned taxpayer dollars, stolen from this state, then returned back under the guise of federally funded programs, and reissued to improperly documented recipients instead of our own citizens who are properly documented and are also in need, is a direct violation of federal rules and regulations (8 USC 1611), a federal criminal offense.

Why our governors and even our representatives seem to be unaware of these laws concerning (improperly documented aliens) refugees should be very disturbing to every sound-minded legal resident of this state, country.

Bells and whistles should be sounding off cautioning governors, and anyone, for that matter, who knowingly harbors illegals, is also in violation of some federal statutes already on the books. What’s more disturbing is that, in the face of a known coming terrorist threat, under the guise of refugees, having wealth, money and conveniences, along with threat of losing federal funding, are more important than doing what’s right and our lives.

This is a sad state of affairs.

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom – go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” (Samuel Adams)

Governors, representatives, if you do not take a stand, if you prove to the people that you love wealth better than liberty, that you love the tranquility of government servitude more than the animating contest of freedom for your people, you’ve just admitted yourself to be evil and wicked; crouch down and lick that federal hand that feeds you, and chains of eternity will be set upon you at the price of the liberty and lives of our children. Stand up now! God bless!
