SMYRNA – Saturday’s unseasonable temperatures in the upper 50s beckoned nature lovers to take refuge from holiday shopping frenzy to instead visit Central Delaware’s wildlife haven.
Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, southeast of Smyrna on Whitehall Neck Road, stretches eight miles along the Delaware Bay and includes a 12-mile wildlife trail, plus walking trails and observation towers. The wildlife drive is open from ½ hour before sunrise to ½ hour after sunset daily.
